Ha ha ha ha ha!

I'm kinda shocked right now. I completely forgot I even had this blog. It's been two years (less two days) since I wrote the first and only post and I have to admit I'm laughing at myself... wow, I didn't even get this one off the ground.

I still need to lose weight. I can't, for the life of me, remember or find that blog I referenced at the beginning of the first post. Quite a few things have changed since that first post was written. We (my DH and I) had a gym membership when I wrote that -- now we don't. We've moved twice since I wrote that... once in June '09 and again this year (also June).

In addition, I think it would be safe to say that my sweet hubs and I are going to have to approach the issue of our health separately... we definitely have some different ideas on the subject. *sigh*

On the 'good news' side of the coin, I've actually lost a little weight since December '08 -- about 30 pounds -- with a lot still left to lose (but I'm still happy about the direction of my progress, no matter the speed). Having just come off Thanksgiving, I'm pretty happy about the fact that my holiday 'gain' -- that so many seem to believe is *fate* -- has been .5 lbs (net) and I'm already back in the down/off position. :-)

I have a friend who has lost an AMAZING amount of weight -- over 100 lbs, I believe -- mostly by exercising, but eating well, too and competes in many races (10k, 1/2 marathons, triathlons) each year. I love reading her blog about the process and it does inspire me. A lot of my admiration for her comes from the fact that she's a 'regular' person -- normal (whatever that means) and has done SPECTACULAR things in fitness to improve her health, lose weight, and become a regular competitor in these cool sporting events. Now, please don't take my 'regular' terminology as an insult -- it's quite the contrary. What I mean is, she's not a celebrity, she's not rich beyond imagination (she has a job, works hard, has a family and social life, etc.) and manages to include good nutrition and physical training in her life. She CHOOSES to do it. She does it every day... she didn't have weight-loss surgery... she didn't become a spokesperson for a 'fad' diet product (and get it for free). She eats food (healthy food), works out every day, and still does life -- the way most people have to do it. Like I said... Normal. She's also completely extraordinary. She DOES it -- while a lot of us (me included) just think, talk, dream about it... make plans to do it... then, ultimately, we just don't... or we only 'kinda' do... you know what I mean.

Anyway, so there's the update. I'm doing better, little by little, and am headed in the right direction. I'm taking inspiration wherever I can and appreciating (especially) the examples of *real* people who are making their own success. I've lost some weight. I've got some more left to lose.

I'll post again... when I do. No promises. :-)
